Plaquemine Lock is a Michelin Bib gastropub on Regent’s Canal in Angel, Islington – serving up the bold, smoky, soulful flavours of Louisiana. Our menu blends Cajun and Creole classics with British produce, all cooked to a high standard in a relaxed setting often completed with live music. We are a food-focused business owned by Jacob Kenedy (Bocca di Lupo) and run by our former head chef and have consistently won a Bib Gourmand since 2018. We make everything we can - from bread to sausages to mustard.
We require a chef capable of running a section, cooking beautifully and keeping organised from the outset. You must be incredibly food-focused with a passion to use quality ingredients and proper methods. This is not a kitchen that takes short cuts, but it’s a great position in a close-knit team in a rapidly growing business.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Demonstrates an understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to health and safety, food safety and fire safety
  • Experience at a handler level in a kitchen producing similar quality and quantity
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: From £15.50 per hour
    Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

Responsibilities
  • Prep section - making breads, pastry, sausage, spice mixes, condiments
  • Seafood section - opening oysters, cooking shrimp, keeping section organised and health & safety compliant
  • Right section - preparing all dishes to a high standard and tight deadlines, working and communicating with the kitchen manager
  • Setup and closedown for every shift
  • Being organised and well-presented
