The Kingston Hotel is looking for experienced Chef De Partie to join our team.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking applicants who are professional and reliable with a passion for food and a positive team attitude. As the Chef De Partie, your role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Oversee a designated kitchen section, ensuring efficient preparation and delivery of menu items
  • Prepare high-quality dishes consistently in line with restaurant standards and presentation guidelines
  • Assist with menu planning, costing, and development of new dishes
  • Manage mise en place and ensure all ingredients are ready for service periods
  • Monitor food quality and portion control to maintain guest satisfaction and cost targets
  • Supervise, train, and mentor Commis Chefs, Demi Chefs and apprentices
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (including HACCP)
  • Conduct daily stock control, inventory checks, and assist with ordering supplies
  • Maintain all workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas clean, tidy, and well-organised
  • Work collaboratively with Sous Chef and Executive Chef to meet service demands
  • Assist during peak service times in coordinating kitchen workflow and timing
  • Address and resolve issues promptly to uphold kitchen efficiency and guest satisfaction

Skills and Experience:

  • Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
  • Prepare food for cooking.
  • Cook food by a range of methods (i.e. baking, braising, frying, roasting or steaming).
  • Divide food into portions and ensure that the food is well presented.
  • Clean food preparation areas and equipment.
  • Store food correctly in temperature-controlled facilities.
  • Take stock of ingredients and equipment and place orders to replenish stock.
  • Receive and store supplies.
  • Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements
