Description

FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.

Rio Tinto is a leading global mining and metals company. Our focus is on finding, mining and processing the Earth’s mineral resources in order to maximise value for our shareholders. Rio Tinto Projects deliver approximately USD$7Bn of capital projects per annum and are facing geographically spread portfolio growth, increasing project complexity, toughened supplier markets and evolving delivery models across our projects.
We are looking for a Manager Benchmarking to play a critical role in bringing together all internal and external benchmarking activities currently undertaken across various parts of RioProjects into a single dedicated role. The role will need to bring these activities together thoughtfully and strategically to ensure we get the most value from our data.

Reporting to the General Manager, Project Practices and Improvement and working in a collaborative community, the role will manage the performance benchmarking framework and reporting for RioProjects. Performance benchmarking includes concepts such as team development, front-end-loading, production ramp-up as well as cost and schedule performance. Responsibilities will include:

  • Performance Improvement: Enabling MDs, GMs, and Project Managers to compare their projects’ performance within Rio Tinto and against industry standards, helping them to identify areas for improvement, boosting efficiency and productivity.
  • Strategic Planning: Providing projects with benchmarking aids to help in setting realistic goals and developing strategic plans based on proven data, ensuring projects are aligned with similar successful projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by regularly assessing performance and making changes based on benchmarking data.
  • Process Standardization and Optimization: Comparing processes, like study durations, with industry leaders helping to identify where to streamline project processes and reduce bottlenecks and developing robust global data and benchmarking processes to track compliance and optimize internal data.
  • Engagement: Working with SME teams such as engineering, estimating, planning, project controls and operational teams, to integrate their data into the overall performance benchmarking framework. It also includes managing engagements with external benchmarking forums and consultants.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you have helped the world progress.
  • A work environment where safety is always the number one priority
  • A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto
  • A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive program
  • Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidized private health insurance for employees and immediate family
  • Attractive share ownership plan
  • Company provided insurance cover
  • Extensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging options
  • Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership goals.
  • Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support
  • Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more)
  • Flexible working arrangements
If this sounds like you and the opportunity you are looking for, apply now. Please note, in order to be successfully considered for this role you must complete all pre-screening questions.
