DESCRIPTION:

The Centre Chef is responsible for all aspects of planning and safe preparation of a nutritionally balanced menu for all Children, whilst ensuring they have a strong understanding of nutrition and age-appropriate foods. The Chef will have regular consultations with families about appropriate menu choices and implement/monitor strict health and hygiene procedures. They must have an enjoyment of preparing and presenting food, as well as be able to talk to children about healthy food options.

Our Centre in Albury is an impressive, purpose-built facility with a fully equipped Chef’s kitchen! Working as the Centre Chef, you will be confident in planning and preparing wholesome and nutritious meals for our children.

About the role

  • Prepare a wide variety of nutritious meals, purees and special diet meals for babies and children as well as freshly baked treats for families daily
  • Experienced in planning a rotation menu and confident in stock rotation, budgeting, and shopping for the kitchen
  • Enjoy greeting and interacting with our families in a friendly manner and provide barista service (training provided if you are not experienced with this)
  • Display excellent verbal, written and time management skills with high levels of initiative
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements
  • Team player who is open to different styles of working in a kitchen and receptive to feedback
  • Able to guide, mentor, support and work professionally with a Kitchen hand
  • Happy to provide culinary classes alongside our educators to even the littlest in our centres
  • Prior experience working in a childcare or aged care kitchen (preferred, but not essential)

Qualifications

  • Completed minimum of Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or similar qualification
  • Completed or willing to complete Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (health & community sector)
  • Current NSW Working with Children’s Check
  • Current Anaphylaxis, Asthma, CPR and First Aid Certificates or willing to obtain one
  • Current Child Protection Training or willingness to obtain one
