CHEF – HARVEST BARN FARMSHOP (FULL-TIME)

Location: Whitehall Farm, Ramsey Road, Farcet, Peterborough, PE7 3DR
Salary: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
Hours: Full-time,34 - 40 hours per week (including weekends) working hours are 08:30-17:00

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on role in a small kitchen, requiring someone who is proactive, organized, and willing to take full responsibility for the daily operations of the kitchen. As the sole chef, you will be involved in every aspect of the kitchen, from food preparation to cleaning and dishwashing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

✅ Independently Manage All Kitchen Operations

  • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with our menu.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, portioning, and presentation.
  • Work efficiently to manage cooking times and preparation schedules.

✅ Cleaning & Hygiene (A Core Part of the Role)

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
  • Follow a strict cleaning schedule, ensuring daily, weekly, and deep cleaning tasks are completed.
  • Be responsible for maintaining hygiene levels at all times.
  • Ensure food safety compliance, including proper food labelling, allergen management, and stock rotation.

✅ Stock & Waste Management

  • Monitor stock levels and place orders to ensure sufficient supplies.
  • Minimize food waste through efficient stock rotation and portion control.
  • Ensure all food storage follows safety and hygiene regulations.

✅ Self-Sufficiency & Reliability

  • Work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly at all times.
  • Take initiative to prioritize cleaning, food preparation, and stock management without needing reminders.
  • Maintain a professional and proactive work ethic, ensuring the kitchen is always ready for service.

✅ Flexibility & Availability

  • Must be available on weekends and during peak periods (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Summer Holidays).
  • Willing to work early mornings
