Indian Home Diner Sutherland based in Sutherland, NSW is all about healthy Indian eating. We provide our customers with the best authentic Indian food experience in Sydney. We offer a menu that boasts a variety of traditional Indian favourites, all prepared with traditional techniques in our busy kitchen. Our dedicated and experienced staffs have a passion for sharing our Indian heritage.
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Chef specialising in Indian cuisine to join our kitchen team.
To be considered for this role you must have:
Ø AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
Ø At least 1 year of relevant experience in industry in similar position
Ø You must be an Australian Citizen/ Permanent resident or have proper working rights in Australia
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Ø Plan weekly production, estimating food and material cost , checking and ordering stock as required
Ø Preparing meats, poultry, fish and vegetables, cleaning, cutting, filleting
Ø Creating authentic Indian spice mixes and marinades
Ø Review and adjust recipes for authentic Indian marinades and sauces
Ø Managing all aspects of the curry section from food preparation to staff training
Ø Preparing a range of meals using traditional Indian flavours and technique
Ø Reviewing and developing menu items to offer seasonal variations
Ø Monitor and implement quality control measures to ensure food is prepared efficiently and of consistent quality
Ø Delegating tasks to junior staffs , supervising and demonstrating cooking techniques
Ø Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and hygiene standard in the kitchen
Ø Supporting the other staff in management of the kitchen including staffing, budget control, liaison with the front staff
Ø Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety at all times
Ø Take responsibility for delivering the highest measures of food production and presentation to customers including managing the live cooking stations
Ø Suggest innovation and commercially viable ideas to improve food quality and introduce new seasonal dishes
To be successful for the role you will have:
Ø Trade Certificate or equivalent experience / training as a Chef
Ø At least 1 year of experience as a Chef in preparing curry dishes and traditional Indian foods
Ø Creative flair and strong sense of flavour combinations
Ø Excellent team leadership skills
Ø Familiar with different culinary cooking method products and techniques
Ø Organized planner of menu development focused on different food items
Ø Knowledge of all continental spices and cooking tools
Ø Comfortable adjusting food to taste, diet etc.
Ø Thrives under pressure in a high volume food environment
Ø High standard of personal hygiene
Ø Excellent knowledge of relevant food and health and safety regulations
Salary
$77,000-$80,000 plus super
