POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef (Level 4 or above) to join our dynamic kitchen team. You’ll be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality breakfast and lunch dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting menu development alongside our head chef and owner.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified cook or chef in a similar role
  • Solid knowledge of modern café-style cuisine
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure during busy service times
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and allergen management
  • Experience supervising junior staff (desirable)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of café-style dishes including breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go items to a high standard
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Supervise and guide kitchen hands or junior cooks during service
  • Assist in creating new menu items and daily specials aligned with our café’s style and seasonal produce
  • Maintain stock control and assist in ordering and inventory management
  • Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP)
  • Maintain a clean and efficient kitchen workspace
  • Monitor and minimise food wastage
  • Follow all Coast Roast procedures and contribute to team culture and service excellence
