We are seeking a hands-on chef actively involved in the creating, cooking, and presentation of food, as well as the day-to-day running of our café based at Fonterra Hautapu located in the heart of the Waikato. Think of tasty, wholesome meals that our customers can order and eat in a short time frame before their next shift starts. An understanding of what the customers crave will have you well on the road to success here.

What You’ll Do:

  • prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine,
  • monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation,
  • create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements,
  • manage food and labour costs within budget,
  • implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations,
  • maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment,
  • ensure all staff are recruited, inducted, trained, and motivated to provide an outstanding service to our customers
  • complete regular mandatory reporting to ensure responsible and effective management of cafe
  • demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy,
  • show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude.

Reporting to an operations manager, you will normally work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6.00am – 2:30pm, ensure the smooth running of the café across its 7-day operation, including weekend shifts. This is a sole charge role, with the support of one catering assistant who will cover the weekend shifts.
