As a Chef Manager at Sodexo in Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, CM15 8EH, you’ll take charge of planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality meals on a daily basis. You’ll also support internal and external Sodexo catering events, ensuring everything meets the highest standards in line with client expectations and service level agreements. What you’ll do:

  • Order all provisions in line with Sodexo ordering policy using Recipe on Line; for non-food goods, use nominated Sodexo suppliers.
  • Ensure all kitchen and food service areas are kept clean and well-maintained; report any defaults to the client and helpdesk, ensuring the completion of outstanding issues.
  • Complete all Sodexo SMS paperwork, including temperatures, electrical checks, COSHH, HACCP, etc.
  • Pass all internal and external audits such as Safeguard, EHO, and Nuffield audits.
  • Manage the team to achieve desired results, driving service excellence and delivering quality.
  • Train all team members using Sodexo GREAT training cards, induction, Nuffield training, passport training, and competency observations.
  • Ensure weekly rotas are completed within the correct timeframe, and manage labor within budget agreements.
  • Complete daily and monthly billing.
  • Perform daily cashing up in accordance with Sodexo’s trading procedures.
  • Close accounts at agreed times.
  • Comply with any reasonable requests made by your line manager within the required timeframe.
  • Complete any reasonable requests from Nuffield within the required timeframe.
  • Handle HR issues in accordance with training.
  • Manage emails and correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with the hospital director and client’s team.
  • Work in line with IIP Gold standards and maintain site accreditation.
  • Manage grounds maintenance and window cleaning according to specifications and within the correct timeframe.
  • Provide client quotations and manage subcontractors if successful.
  • Manage the Costa account and ensure compliance.

What you bring:

  • A genuine passion for food and exceptional customer service
  • 706/1 & 706/2 or equivalent culinary qualifications, plus RIPHH and IOSH certificates
  • Sound knowledge of:
  • Cook Chill Catering
  • HACCP principles
  • Level 2 Food Safety practices
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • A professional, respectful attitude and a positive approach to teamwork
  • High personal standards for hygiene, appearance, and conduct
