JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to join our team and manage the catering service at Chesham Leys . This exciting role involves overseeing the daily production and service of high-quality meals, maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, and working closely with staff to deliver excellent service to those who use our services. As a Chef Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring a choice of varied and nutritious meals while managing budgets, stock, and health & safety standards.
As an accessible nursing home in Chesham, we’re conveniently located close to Chesham town centre, and on a local bus route, Chesham Leys care home provides care for 62 people and is a purpose-built nursing care home, with resident well-being being our number one priority. Individual rooms can be personalised to feel as homely as possible, while each of our 3 floors has its own character and plenty of shared spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning & Meal Production:
  • Regularly review and adapt the menu in consultation with service users, ensuring choice and variety at each meal. Organize and manage the daily production and serving of high-quality meals.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure a tidy, hygienic, and safe working environment at all times, fully compliant with Health and Safety and Food Safety Regulations.

  • Staff Management:

Assist the Service Manager in the recruitment, performance management, and deployment of catering staff. Support the team to deliver high-quality service and outcomes for service users.Manage catering budgets effectively, ensuring cost-efficient production. Oversee the ordering, storage, and payment of food supplies in accordance with purchasing arrangements. Ensure accurate stock control and review invoices before authorizing payment.Produce financial reports, costing breakdowns, and other relevant documentation as required by the Service Manager.Actively promote the service by maintaining respectful and clear communication with service users, relatives, health and social care professionals, and colleagues. Contribute to the success of the team through collaboration and participation in team meetings.Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in catering or chef management, ideally in a care or residential setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety, food safety regulations, and kitchen hygiene standards.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with service users, staff, and external professionals.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality catering services in a customer-focused environment.
