About Us
Nawabi is a premium fine dining Mughlai restaurant in Surry Hills. Our menu is inspired by the royal kitchens of the Mughal era, featuring authentic curries, kebabs, biryanis, and tandoor breads. We are expanding our team and are seeking an experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting authentic Mughlai dishes to the highest standard. You will work closely with management to ensure menu consistency, uphold food safety, and support Nawabi’s reputation for quality and authenticity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Mughlai/Indian dishes including curries, biryanis, kebabs, and breads.
  • Operate the tandoor and clay pot cooking methods.
  • Maintain consistency in flavour, portioning, and presentation.
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff where required.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise wastage.
  • Comply with all food safety and hygiene requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef specialising in Indian or Mughlai cuisine.
  • Strong skills in tandoor cooking, biryani preparation, and traditional breads.
  • Food Safety certification preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
