The salary is £28,756.50 plus competitive employee benefits.
The hours are 7am – 3pm, Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week) - term time only

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Chef to join our catering team at a leading independent Senior School. Working closely with the Head Chef and Catering Manager, you will help deliver exceptional food and service to students and staff, while also deputising for the Head Chef when required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Food Preparation (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certification (Level 3 desirable)
  • Experience managing food production and budgets in a busy kitchen setting
  • Strong team leadership and communication skills
  • Confidence in allergy management and catering for a wide range of dietary needs
  • Creativity in menu planning and a passion for delivering exceptional food
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (some off-site duties included)

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring full team coverage through effective rota management
  • Create fresh, seasonal, and inspiring menus that meet the diverse dietary needs of pupils and staff
  • Take ownership of front-of-house presentation and promote themed days and food-related events
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness across all areas of the kitchen
  • Complete all necessary food safety and stock documentation accurately and on time
  • Rotate staff through kitchen sections to aid skill development and cover
  • Support training and professional development for junior team members
  • Ensure compliance with all school policies, including the wearing of PPE
