ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES (SELECTION CRITERIA):

  • Certificate III or IV in commercial cookery
  • 5 years of relevant experience in large scale production
  • A good level of communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Flexibility to work within varying catering roles
  • The ability to problem-solve low level complexity issues and to know when it is appropriate to escalate
  • Experience in aged care or healthcare settings is desirable.
  • Friendly disposition
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Organised, systematic, and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership abilities aligned with SRV’s values.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This hands-on position is central to supporting the Catering Manager and driving high-volume food production within a fast-paced kitchen environment. The role’s primary focus is on large-scale dessert preparation, requiring precision and consistency in following established recipes to maintain quality standards across all output.
In addition to dessert production, the role contributes broadly across the kitchen team. Responsibilities may include general food preparation, vegetable processing, and the delivery of meals and provisions to care facilities. Flexibility and teamwork are essential, as the position also involves stepping into other operational tasks as directed to support smooth daily service.

The position includes, but is not limited to:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Prepare all bakery items and desserts for residents
  • Ensure all items meet menu specifications and quality standards
  • Maintain minimal resident complaints regarding desserts and baked goods
  • Seek innovative opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain accountability for high standards in food service

SECONDARY DUTIES (AS DIRECTED)

  • Participate in general food production tasks
  • Assist with vegetable preparation for daily service
  • Deliver meals and provisions to care facilities if required
  • Carry out additional duties as required with minimal supervision and high standards
