Your role at St John of God Burwood We are seeking applications for an experienced Chef to join our Burwood Catering team on a permanent part-time basis. This position will initially start as part time working AM & PM shifts, weekends and public holidays when required. Opportunity to progress to Head Chef and full-time time hours will be available for the right candidate. Working as a Chef, you will prepare food for patients, visitors and staff in an appealing manner. You will offer an environment of welcome to all stakeholders and be able to cover the Chef Supervisor when required. The Position Prepares food for patients, visitors and staff in an appealing and hospitable manner. Relays any needs of patients (including special diets) to the Head Chef – General Services. Maintains work practices according to hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates safe food practices as per HACCP guidelines. Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance & Continuous Quality Improvement projects. Demonstrates ability to prioritise situations as they occur during the shift. Manages own workload and complete agreed upon duty statement for that area/section by the completion of each shift. You will have a strong understanding of the NSW Health & Food Safety requirements, extensive experience in cooking techniques, and a high level of customer service skills including flexibility, tact and diplomacy. Experience working in an aged care or hospital environment will be high regarded. Successful applicants will hold a food handlers’ certificate or equivalent. Trade qualifications and/or experience working in a health-related environment will be highly regarded.
