Role Overview We are seeking a Chemical Engineer / Hazardous Materials Expert to join our site team in Thessaloniki for projects involving demolition, dismantling, and hazardous materials management. The selected candidate will be responsible for on-site supervision, environmental compliance, and safe handling of hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead, or contaminated waste. This role requires proven expertise in hazardous waste classification, handling, and disposal in accordance with EU and national regulations. Key Responsibilities Supervise demolition and dismantling activities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Identify, monitor, and manage hazardous materials on-site (e.g., asbestos, heavy metals, chemical residues). Classify waste streams based on hazardous properties (HP codes), in line with EWC and ADR regulations. Ensure proper segregation, packaging, labeling, and disposal of waste materials in accordance with national and EU legislation. Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth and compliant execution of works. Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation as required by regulatory bodies. Conduct environmental risk assessments and propose mitigation measures when needed. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Chemical Engineering (BSc or MSc). 3–7 years of professional experience in industrial, environmental, or demolition projects involving hazardous materials. Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational health & safety regulations. Proven experience in hazardous waste classification, sampling, and documentation. Familiarity with hazardous waste management, remediation processes, and EU waste codes (EWC). Computer proficiency (MS Office; AutoCAD or GIS software a plus). Fluency in English (written & spoken). Valid driver’s license and availability for site-based work. Preferred Qualifications Certified training in asbestos handling, HAZMAT, or industrial hygiene. Certification or experience as a Hazardous Waste Expert or Environmental Assessor. Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent standards.
