About This Role Textron has a legacy of high temperature, high performance composite materials dating back to the Apollo spacecraft heatshield system. We are leveraging these materials legacy and ultra-high-performance materials successes to expand our advanced material presence into today’s challenges in propulsion and other aggressive thermomechanical applications. Textron seeks a unique talent to help visualize this presence and be a technical expert. Major Position Responsibilities:

  • As the lead chemical process engineer, contribute to a multi discipline project team consisting of material scientists, chemists, thermal analysis, mechanical engineers, and modeling & simulation analysts.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing disciplines to design, build and manage a medium-large scale state of the art manufacturing & test facility that includes the use of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons and other precursor materials.
  • Be a customer contact from proposal through development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building facilities for manufacturing chemical processes
  • Experience developing, processing and manufacturing liquid and/or gaseous hydrocarbons is desirable would be helpful but not critical.
  • Knowledge of fiber reinforcement offerings with emphasis on high performance carbon fibers and ceramic fibers
  • High temperature composite knowledge, primarily carbon/carbon, is desired but not critical.
  • Understanding of thermal and mechanical properties of materials.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or relevant degree with 5 years’ experience.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be considered for additional years of experience.
