JOB DESCRIPTION

BAE Systems, one of the world’s largest defense contractors, is hiring a Process Engineer / Chemical Engineer to help us produce energetic materials for our government and commercial customers.

As a Process Engineer / Chemical Engineer, you will:

  • Provide process engineering support to the Explosives Manufacturing Department
  • Develop new and redline existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Author, maintain and update necessary Procedures & assist with training when applicable
  • Develop cost estimates for new and existing products
  • Provide field support for I/O and interlock checkout
  • Troubleshoot Process, Instrumentation, and equipment problems
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balances
  • Interact with Customers and Suppliers
  • Lead/support Process Hazard Analysis for new and existing processes
  • Interact with R&D to scale-up and/or develop new processes
  • Develop and implement quality, safety, and process improvements
  • Develop new and redline existing Interlock Narratives
  • Ensure required production schedules are met in accordance with quality standards, safety requirements, regulatory standards
  • Facilitate and/or support improvement projects, maintenance projects and aid in process troubleshooting
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting within Process Control Systems
  • Provide on call Technical support

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Controls, or similar discipline
  • 2+ years experience in engineering related field
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Previous Experience with Control Systems
  • Previous Experience in Production Operations
  • Hazard Analysis - HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, etc
  • Previous Experience with process start-up
