Overview The Chemical/Environmental Engineering Co-op will assist the Environmental and Chemical Engineering Department in all environmental and chemical affairs of the company. Primary responsibilities will be in the Paints and Finishings Group. Additional activities will include involvement with air, water and land regulations, permitting requirements, hazardous material use, shipment and disposal. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Participate in a multi-functional Paints and Finishings team. Develop process-driven analysis of chemicals used in the finishing process. Perform oven and chemical analysis trending and forecasting. Optimize processes within the five finishing areas. Analyze operational data to determine efficiency gains and optimizations. Identify and develop metric implementation. Develop and implement process documentation including work instructions and procedures. Perform testing and troubleshooting to ensure quality part production. Provide daily support to powder coating teams. Become proficient in environmental regulations, including air, water, hazardous waste, hazardous material transportation, etc. Monitor chemical processes throughout all facilities by completing inspections. Assist in completing environmental reports. Participate in the Sustainability Team. Develop process-driven analysis of the manufacturing facility. Research sustainability initiatives and alternative products that will minimize environmental impact. Regular and reliable attendance in the office is required. This position requires work to be performed on-site at our corporate office and does not provide for working from home offices. Qualifications Full-time student, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in chemical or environmental engineering or similar field required. A student in their junior or senior year is preferred. Interest in environmental laws and regulations. Ability to prioritize and manage time properly. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic programming knowledge preferred. Strong organizational skills. Team player. Ability to work with team members of varying levels of job responsibilities. The duration of this co-op is May to December, 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Housing Stipend Assistance Program available to those who qualify.
