The Process Engineer will evaluate existing manufacturing operations; establish procedures to gain optimum utilization of equipment; review production requirements and recommend and lead process improvements. They will also assist the Technical team that is responsible for the introduction of new chemical products into the manufacturing plant. This role will operate with safety as their number one priority and look for ways to support the plant and its operations in those efforts. With mentoring and guidance, the Process Development Engineer is expected to make immediate contributions to the team in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The position requires a minimum four-year degree in Chemical Engineering. 1-5 years of experience (may be as part of an internship or co-op position) in chemical process development, scale-up, and implementation is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong chemistry and engineering background with a focus on practical application
  • Familiarity with 6-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Processes
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental standards related to petrochemical production
  • General knowledge of process optimization in a petrochemical production facility
  • Ability to analyze data with various statistical programs and prepare reports
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written, at all levels of an organization

    Pay: $57,124.00 - $131,889.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Technical engineering support to assist with the daily production operations of the facility.
  • Supports the transition/scale-up of new development projects into plant production.
  • Performs Process Safety Management tasks as requested.
  • Gathers data and monitors daily performance of batch and continuous chemical manufacturing processes using spreadsheets and Statistical Process Control tools to monitor and determine degree of control of process variables.
  • Assists in preparing daily action plans through direction and team planning with operations leadership.
  • Analyzes data and troubleshoots problems with batch and continuous chemical. manufacturing processes. Leads production problem solving teams as required.
  • Identifies opportunities for process optimization.
  • Supports the transition/scale-up of new development projects into plant production.
  • Assists with translating lab and pilot-scale run data into process operating procedures.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of new projects and plant trials as required.
  • Develops ChemCAD Models as required for process troubleshooting, process improvement or new project development.
  • Initiates Management of Change projects as required by PSM.
  • Generates and updates on Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Supports Pre Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Supports Facilities safety initiatives.
