POSITION SUMMARY
The Chemical Process Operator is responsible for the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in accordance with relevant quality, safety and environmental regulations at Zoetis, Rathdrum.
All Zoetis Chemical Process Operators must demonstrate flexibility in relation to types of work, shift patterns and locations of work at the Rathdrum site.
Please note that duties / responsibilities might be varied from time to time due to the implementation of continuous improvement projects and / or procedural updates and business requirements / needs.

Key objectives of this position include:
Operational Tasks:
Manufacture of APIs and associated intermediates in the production facility This includes conducting trials in preparation for processing, set-up for manufacture, batch processing and cleaning post-manufacture. Weighing and measuring of materials. Charging and discharging materials to/from process equipment. Operating process equipment such as reactors, centrifuges, driers, mills, distillation equipment, filters, hydrogenators and their associated utilities and control systems. Following batch instruction sheets and written confirmation of completion of steps. Setting up process flow routes using flexible hoses for flammable solvent transfers using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Active membership of Emergency Response and Shift Handover Teams as required.
Maintenance Tasks:
Execution of maintenance tasks in line with individuals current and developing capabilities, skills and experience. Initially it is expected that these will include as a minimum seal oil checking and top-up, changing of filter elements, assistance with energy isolations, fire watch monitor, top man for confined space entry, generation of signage/tags, use of tools, dismantling and re-assembly of equipment for cleaning, execution of preventive maintenance tasks, etc. Carry out inspections, complete checklists. Assisting service contractors.
Logistics Tasks:
Materials movement tasks such as forklift operation, staging of materials e.g. Kanban, Issuing raw materials and chemical intermediates to the production facility. Receiving finished products and chemical intermediates from production facility. Receiving raw materials from vendors. Sampling of solid and liquid materials for Quality testing. Preparation and packaging of waste materials for disposal. Loading and unloading Bulk Solvent and Waste Tankers. Packaging of finished products for dispatch. Provide assistance to Waste contractor.
General Tasks:
Participation in audits, quality monitoring inspections and self-inspections as required. Training of new colleagues, preparation of work instructions, undertaking procedural, classroom and on the job training. Completion of paperwork in accordance with cGMP. Participation in and leading problem solving sessions. Participation and driving of Continuous Improvement Activities – including the continuous development and improvement of Documentation, Standards and Processes.
