Classification Title:    Chemical Operator     Grade:    30N (Union X10 ATLC) Requisition No.:    2477BU   Number of Positions:    2 Location:    ORNL     Organization:    CNO Department:    Nuclear Operations     Project Assignment:    ORNL/LGWO Posting Date:      1/14/2026  Closing Date:         1/28/2026 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Chemical Process Operator * Follows established methods and techniques in performing a single or sequence of operations required in various production and development processes associated with the chemical and physical change of materials. * Adjusts, regulates, controls and operates a wide variety of standard and specialized processes such as off-gas and low-level liquid waste. Operate pumps, valves, and hand switches.  * Requires entry into confined spaces. * Must be able to be Forklift Certified. * Must be able to fully understand and comply with Safety Basis Documents (ie:TSR controls) * Must be able to work at elevated heights using manlifts, scaffolds, and ladders. * Uses various measuring and recording equipment and devices to include LabView and Data Control System (DCS). Maintains detailed records of inventory and process quantities. Must undergo extensive training, examination and certification in required areas. * Segregate Nuclear and Chemical process waste and package for shipment/disposal in accordance with applicable regulations, DOE orders and UCOR procedures. * Sample hazardous and chemical waste for analysis.  * Respond appropriately to alarms at Tank Farms, Control Rooms and other Facilities. * Responsible for record documentation related to facility operations. * Must successfully pass Operator qualification/requalification program as required. * Use the appropriate PPE for the work being performed including full face respirators, powered air purifying respirators, typically Level C&D protective clothing. * Report unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions to supervision and/or Facility Management. * Work only on the systems, devices, and activities for which they are trained and authorized.
