Your Role

As a Chemical Process Safety Engineer (m/f/d) you are a member of the global Chemical Safety Management (CSM) Team and responsible for ensuring compliance with Symrise Process Safety Management (PSM) policies and procedures and regulations. In addition, your responsibilities include the effective application of process safety related programs, developing innovative solutions for evolving standards, establishing, and fostering a healthy and effective process safety culture, and managing risks.

  • You manage, coordinate, and implement all elements of the Symrise Process Safety Management (PSM) program in addition to any requirements specific to the location.
  • You schedule, lead and document the PHA/HAZOP evaluations for new and existing processes.
  • You perform Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to determine if the risk of an incident scenario is low enough to meet company requirements.
  • You coordinate and schedule internal and external compliance review audits.
  • You develop, implement, and provide process safety training and monitor compliance with training requirements.
  • You perform technical reviews of proposed new projects and process changes to identify and communicate any PSM ramifications.
  • You report on status of process safety incidents to management, lead investigations related to these incidents, and coordinate development of corrective actions based upon investigations.
  • You provide oversight of the Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) process.
  • You perform routine monitoring of documentation to ensure compliance with Symrise process safety requirements, including written procedures, Process safety information (PSI), and closure of PHA/HAZOP and audit action items.
