Description Job Title: Spin Reagent Prep Technician Location: Newark, DE Department: Production Laboratory Reports To: Laboratory Manager ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Duties and Responsibilities: · Maintains a clean, safe work environment. · Works safely, adheres to all safety policies & procedures; identifies/report & helps eliminate hazards. · Prepares reagents according to specified procedures in a safe manner. · Works closely with Spin Disk production to ensure the availability of reagents. · Maintains the inventory of raw materials and reagents. · Works with QC as needed. · Assists in data generation, computer input, and analysis for troubleshooting projects. · Completes routine performance testing of instruments and spin reagents. · Maintains accurate notes in laboratory notebook and production records. · Perform interference and stability tests on new and existing products. Schedule & Hours: · 12-hour shifts, working every other weekend. · Day Shift (6:30 am-6:45 pm) Miscellaneous: · Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to: o Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event. o 5-S program in the department or other areas assigned. o DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations, and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly. · Completes monthly safety observations. · Notifies Supervisors/Managers of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc., and cooperates in resolving such issues as well. · Provides Supervisors/Managers with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtains additional training as necessary. · Assists in other department activities as needed and performs other duties as assigned. · Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.). Requirements Qualifications/Requirements: · Requires two years of college chemistry or equivalent laboratory experience. · Experience with chemical hygiene and safety practices. · Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment, e.g., analytical balance, pH meter, spectrophotometer, adjustable volume pipettor, and volumetric glassware. · Must be able to prepare standard solutions by serial dilution. · Must be able to abide by detailed reagent preparation procedures. · Must be able to use compressed gas cylinders and vacuum lines safely. · Requires computer proficiency for data entry into spreadsheets. · Must maintain accurate laboratory batch records. · Must have good communication skills and be able to work with other staff members, be organized and work independently. · Must be able to work efficiently for timely task completion. Environmental Factors & Mental/Physical Demands: Primarily works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires prolonged sitting at a desk using a computer, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, and transporting up to 50 pounds. Walks to and from other departments throughout the company, printers and fax machines, meetings, restrooms, etc. May, on occasion, drive to and attend an off-site meeting or training seminar or pick up items locally for a company-sponsored event.
