KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • University or college degree in an applicable field – Chemistry, Environmental Affairs, Biology, etc.
  • Valid G License (DZ an asset). Must be willing to drive company vehicle every day (this may require 2 overnight trips on average per month)
  • Previous lab, sales and industry experience is an asset
  • Competent computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
  • Willing to work overtime, alternate shifts, overnight trips out of town
  • Good driver abstract/CVOR abstract
  • Knowledge of TDG, Reg. 347 and Ontario Health and Safety Act an asset

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the characterization, research, packing, and labeling of chemical waste for the transportation of the material from the customer site to the applicable GFL facility.
  • Provide technical assistance to Customers via site visits, sampling and assisting with the classification of waste materials.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe and proper manner in accordance to GFL Environmental Services Inc. transportation standard operating procedures, and government regulations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle and equipment inspections according to requirements and document.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional and cost effective manner at all times.
  • Maintain a clean appearance at all times.
  • Treat all customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Abide by the rules and requirements while on customer or GFL property.
  • Perform lab packing and de-packing duties.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to complete job including acquiring signatures as required.
  • Assist both sales and operations with Technical information gathering for materials going into or out of GFL’s Liquid East facilities.
  • Assist with the coding and shipments of Lab-Pack materials.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
