CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIST

As part of a fast-growing startup, the technologist in this role can anticipate a large variety of tasks, from designing new systems to selecting components and hands-on part manufacturing/assembly. The technologist in this role can anticipate rapid learning on the hydrogen economy to work side-by-side with both engineers and scientists to tackle challenges in reactor design, measurement systems, and laboratory automation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree or diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or Chemistry
  • Strong knowledge of chemical analysis, chemical handling, safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with analytical chemical instrumentation such as gas chromatography is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities
  • Operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation, including gas chromatography, FT-IR
  • Development of chemical analysis protocols and safe operating procedures.
  • Interpretation of analytical chemical analyses.
  • Preparation of samples for testing and calibration.
  • General support of laboratory operations, including sample preparations, chemical hygiene operations and inventory management.
  • Troubleshooting analytical instrumentation and co-ordination with manufacturers for maintenance and repair.
  • Development of semi-automated result processing systems for analytical testing results with support from team members.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research professionals to enhance laboratory functionality.
