During a typical workday, a Chemical Technologist could expect to spend approximately half of the shift travelling to various sample points within the station/site to collect samples. The four-unit station is multi-elevation industrial atmosphere.
In addition to a significant amount of walking required, workers are required to manage various risks to plant and personnel such as heat, ergonomics and radiation. This is done by placing a strong emphasis on adherence to our 4 Pillars of Safety: Reactor Safety, Radiation Safety, Industrial Safety and Environmental Safety. Additionally, use of Human Performance tools and Chemistry Fundamentals is key to ensuring our activities are carried out at highest level of excellence and event-free.
As samples are collected, they are returned to the lab where a suite of laboratory instruments is used to perform analysis. Results are reported through the use of laboratory information management software. Other important duties include maintenance of lab housekeeping standards, maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring compliance with Environmental regulations and active participation in the lab quality control program.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
