Rhodium Group is recruiting a Senior Analyst to focus on chemicals industry research within the company’s China Projects team. The preferred location is Rhodium Group’s New York or Washington, DC office. Location: New York or Washington, DC | Apply by: April 24, 2026 Position description Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented chemicals sector analyst to join our world-class team of economists, policy analysts, researchers, and data engineers. As a chemicals analyst in Rhodium Group’s China practice, you will support several teams by modeling China’s chemicals sector, its spillovers to global commodity markets, and implications for specific corporate clients. Position responsibilities Provide detailed economic and market analysis of the global chemicals industry, with a focus on the structure of China’s chemicals industry, including upstream and downstream products, and its spillovers to the rest of the world. Work closely with macroeconomic, corporate advisory, climate, energy, and industrial policy analysts to build complex models of upstream and downstream market supply and demand. Provide research and writing support for longer-form client projects. Conduct regular tracking of news and policy developments of interest to clients. Provide research support for business development activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications A master’s degree in international economics, engineering, chemistry, or business with three or more years of experience conducting market analysis on the petrochemicals sector or a bachelor’s degree in similar fields with at least five years of relevant professional experience. Excellent research and data analysis skills with the ability to prepare clear and accurate reports of research results. Ability to synthesize policy developments and economic data into succinct and compelling stories. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present information clearly and concisely through memos, reports, briefings, and other deliverables. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity for self-directed work. The candidate should be capable of handling multiple time-sensitive projects at once and independently produce client-ready, polished outputs. Strong proficiency with Excel for data analysis and visualization. Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis. Near native-level English writing and speaking skills. Work authorization in the United States required. The following qualifications are a strong plus: Reading proficiency in Chinese (to include ability to quickly read, summarize, and extract key findings and nuance from Chinese-language newspaper articles and policy documents). Professional experience doing research on China to support decision-makers in government, business, or think tanks. Knowledge of the Chinese chemicals sector, including data sources and market structure. Location and travel requirements The preferred location for this role is New York or Washington, DC.
