DESCRIPTION:

About the role
This opportunity does not come often, but we now have an exciting role for our Sydney laboratory. We are accepting applications for the position of Senior Chemist - Metals in our modern NATA-accredited laboratory for an immediate start. This is a full-time role, where you are responsible for non-routine testing, training of staff, checking and improving results. This includes developing new methodologies and optimising processes for a high-performance culture.

About you

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THESE QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAITS:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a NATA-accredited laboratory
  • Experience with analytical instruments ICP-OES, ICP-MS, CV-AAS
  • Experience with LIMS
  • Strong analytical and chemistry knowledge
  • Knowledge of common analytical methods, laboratory QC practice and calculations
  • Strong instrument troubleshooting skills
  • Previous Facility Assigned Signatory status
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis – Conduct routine and non-routine and complex sample preparation, analysis and reporting and collate and review results
  • Quality Control – Identify, investigate and resolve issues and complaints with effective solutions
  • Client Services – Approve results and finalise client reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Continuous Improvement – Plan and perform method development and validation for new methods, as well as implement lab and sample efficiencies
  • WHS – Demonstrate awareness for safety and environmental awareness, drive staff compliance with PPE and address hazards or safety issues
  • Housekeeping - ensure ongoing housekeeping to keep a clean workspace
