Our Cambridge client who is one of the world’s leading providers of testing, calibration, and advisory services is recruiting for a Chemist. This position will be required to use ICP-OES equipment to test metals, study matter at a molecular level to conduct experiments, analyze chemical compounds and develop new products, processes or materials. Key responsibilities will include performing, documenting and presenting research findings, maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. The successful worker will be proficient in a number of core business skills, including but not limited to, compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct and company policies and procedures.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Plan and execute experiments to research new materials, products or processes
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances to determine their composition, properties and concentration of elements
- Monitor and test existing products and processes to ensure they meet quality and safety standards
- Develop, validate and implement analytical methods for testing and analysis
- Prepare chemical solutions, compounds and reagents
- Conduct experiments to explore new combinations and interactions of elements
- Prepare detailed technical reports on experimental findings, for presentation
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning
- Work with department colleagues on product development and production processes
- Maintain laboratory notes and record keeping
- Computer data entry and report generation
- Time management with a general understanding of quality systems
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical or chemical degree
- 2+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of chemistry principles
- Experienced in the use of ICP-OES equipment to test metals
- Ability to analyze data, solve problems and identify issues during experiments
- Proficient in the use of scientific equipment, software and analytical tools
- Meticulousness in experimental procedures and data recording
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Organized with a high level of attention to detail
- Self motivated with above average analytical and assessment skills
- Adaptable and able to meet deadlines
- Team player as well as able to work independently
- Steel toed shoes
- Safety glasses
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident status
- Have a clear criminal background check and credit check
