We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our Food Forensics team. In this temporary role, you’ll play a vital part in preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment and workspaces, and supporting analysts to ensure high-quality, timely results for our clients. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepare and label incoming samples for testing using lab equipment such as food processors, grinders, blenders, and balances. * Clean and maintain glassware, instruments, equipment, and Chemistry department work areas. * Monitor and maintain supplies, including a steady supply of distilled water. * Assist in packaging and shipping samples, equipment, or materials for outside testing or client return. * Support analysts in performing chemical tests and accurately document cleaning, calibrations, and maintenance. * Record daily refrigerator/freezer temperatures and verify equipment calibrations. * Safely handle and properly label hazardous waste in compliance with regulatory requirements. * Partner with other departments to ensure smooth lab operations. * Perform additional duties as assigned. * Possible opportunity for the position to be extended a a longer period of time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. * Basic math skills and attention to detail. * Effective communication (reading, writing, and verbal). * Ability to stand for long periods and lift 10–50 lbs. * Manual dexterity and ability to distinguish colors. * Dependability, accuracy, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
