Role & Responsibilities At Bold, student talent classes are an integral part of our program as students explore their interests and develop the skills and habits that will drive success in college and beyond. As a Chess Teacher at Bold, you will ensure that every student experiences a learning environment that inspires a commitment to learning and personal performance alongside values of team, respect, humility, and passion. You will be part of a results-oriented and collaborative team of professionals who are relentless in their pursuit of educational excellence as we build to K-12. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and apply a deep understanding of Bold’s goals, vision, and values to build a culture of purpose and impact Teach a rigorous Chess curriculum, leading introductory classes at the lower grades and progressing to more advanced instruction at the middle and high school levels Drive outcomes for all students by regularly analyzing data, assessing student performance, and implementing high leverage instructional strategies Coach and develop students to participate in competitive environments; develop ongoing opportunities for students to compete against peers from other top-performing schools at the local, state, and national levels Train with colleagues and school leaders, which includes regularly implementing feedback with grace and urgency in service of student achievement, a values-based school culture, and a positive, professional work environment Develop strong relationships with families and students; lead and organize ongoing family events, internal tournaments, and communications that create high levels of investment in academic and personal achievement Demonstrate a mission-first mindset to ensure all decisions and actions are rooted in ensuring that all students excel Qualifications 3+ years of teaching experience in a high-performing K-12 setting with a proven track record of success Coaching experience in a competitive, college-preparatory environment; experience developing and leading a team to success at national-level tournaments Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of achievement and leadership Start Date Flexible Compensation Bold Charter School offers highly competitive compensation, in the top range of comparable positions across New York City charter schools. The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
