Description
The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department and analyzing the company from an economic and financial perspective to inform and advise management and the leadership team. They ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, manage the accounting team, and provide financial analyses to support informed decision-making. The Chief Accountant handles month-end and year-end closing processes, prepares financial statements, and implements robust internal controls. They contribute to ensuring that the leadership team makes decisions that have a positive impact on the company and take all necessary actions to achieve operational and financial objectives, supporting continuous growth. Your Responsibilities: Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger; Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting; Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS); Manage the accounting team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment; Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets; Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, corporate income tax) and other statutory requirements; Coordinate with external auditors and assist in the annual audit process; Provide financial analysis and support for budgeting and forecasting activities, with a strong focus on Excel spreadsheets. Minimum of three (3) years experience; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (an asset); Knowledge of the aviation industry (an asset); Bilingual (French and English spoken); Strong advanced Excel skills; Knowledge of MS Dynamics GP software (an asset); Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI (an asset).
