Description

The Chief Accountant will be the leader of our accounting operations, responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all financial records, compliance with local regulations and international standards, and the timely production of financial statements. This is a critical leadership role that reports directly to the Head of Finance and requires a hands-on approach to both day-to-day operations and strategic process improvement. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting Financial Statements: Oversee and manage the accurate and timely preparation of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) in compliance with local Egyptian accounting standards and IFRS/GAAP. General Ledger & Closing: Lead the full month-end and year-end closing processes, including all necessary journal entries, complex reconciliations, and variance analyses. Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison for all external and internal audits, managing the audit process end-to-end and ensuring complete tax and regulatory compliance. Tax Management: Oversee all corporate tax, VAT, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings, ensuring accurate and timely submission to authorities. Operations & Internal Controls Process Ownership: Design, implement, and document robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate risk and improve operational efficiency across the entire company. Operational Oversight: Directly supervise the functional accounting areas including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets, and Payroll. System Integrity: Ensure the full utilization and integrity of the company's ERP/Accounting software and financial technology stack, recommending improvements and managing implementations where necessary. Cash Flow: Monitor and reconcile daily/weekly cash flow activities, providing accurate forecasts related to operational expenditure. Leadership & Strategy Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, and continuous professional growth. Strategic Support: Collaborate closely with the Finance Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to provide accurate actual financial data and support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Controller role, preferably within a fast-paced technology, e-commerce, or startup environment. Technical Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of local Egyptian accounting laws/regulations and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or GAAP. Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
