Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chief Accountant to lead and oversee the financial operations of our construction projects in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of construction accounting practices, local regulations, and strong leadership capabilities to manage a team and support project and corporate finance goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CA, or ACCA preferred).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in the UAE construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, project-based cost tracking, and contract payment terms.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of UAE VAT, WPS, and labor cost accounting.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Generate project-wise cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow analysis to support project managers and senior management.
  • Develop and monitor project and company-wide budgets.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted expenditures, identifying and addressing cost overruns.
  • Support procurement and operations teams in cost estimation and financial planning.
  • Maintain accurate project accounting, including job costing, WIP reports, and retention tracking.
  • Coordinate with site teams to verify progress payments, subcontractor invoices, and material costs.
  • Ensure timely billing and collections related to project milestones and contractual terms.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws, corporate tax regulations, and financial standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor and manage company’s banking, insurance, and financial obligations.
  • Supervise and guide the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely performance of tasks.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluation for junior accountants.
  • Collaborate with HR, Procurement, and Project departments for financial coordination.
