TE HAEATA/THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Chief Advisor Performance to join the leadership team supporting the Pae Matua Māori Land Court | Director Waitangi Tribunal. This is a full-time role offered on a fixed-term or secondment basis for a duration of 12 months.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a unique jurisdiction, driving performance uplift, embedding a performance culture that is future focussed and firmly grounded in tikanga and mātauranga.

Responsibilities

As Chief Advisor Performance, you will be a strategic thought partner to the Pae Matua, providing high-level advice, foresight analysis, and data driven insights to improve organisational performance and service delivery. You will lead the design and implementation of a future focussed performance strategy, embedding a whole of jurisdiction reporting mechanism and cultivating a high-performance culture across the Māori Land Court.

In this role, you will:

  • lead strategic performance planning, monitoring and reporting across the Māori Land Court
  • embed evidence based methodologies and analysis into organisational decision making
  • drive a cultural shift towards outcomes focussed performance and accountability
  • coach and mentor kaimahi and leaders to build capability in strategic thinking and performance analytics
  • integrate Māori perspectives into system design, planning, and performance frameworks.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • significant experience in senior advisory or strategic leadership roles in complex organisations
  • expertise in organisational performance frameworks, business planning, and evidence-based decision-making
  • strong capability in foresight, innovation, and performance uplift
  • proven ability to engage credibly with Māori organisations, iwi, and the judiciary, with a deep understanding of tikanga and te ao Māori
  • exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship management skills
  • the ability to lead cultural and organisational change in a values-based, outcomes-focused way.
