R&D unit in KTI is responsible for developing digital services at KONE. It’s the development engine for our Digital Services such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services , Office Flow and Partnership Ecosystem.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

-Technical Leadership: Lead the technical design of connectivity systems for elevators and escalators, ensuring seamless integration between edge devices and cloud services.
-Telecommunication Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on 4G, 5G, and emerging telecommunication technologies.
-Network Communication: Architect, select, and manage communication protocols over cellular and wired networks to deliver cost-effective, high-quality systems.
-Innovation and Upgradation : Stay updated with the latest advancements in telecommunication technologies and implement upgrades to enhance system performance.
-Vendor and Operator Selection : Drive the evaluation and selection of telecom operators for our IoT needs, considering both technical and commercial aspects.
-Troubleshooting and Commissioning: Actively troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, learn from these experiences, and roadmap improvements for new products to enhance usability and ease of installation.
-Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, product management, and customer service, to ensure success.
-Documentation and Compliance : Ensure all connectivity systems comply with industry standards and regulations.

IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

-Technical Expertise : In-depth knowledge of telecommunication systems, and other external communication systems. Ideally you have some experience on both software and hardware side.
-Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.

-Innovation : Ability to stay abreast of technological advancements and implement innovative solutions.

  • Background in technology companies working with large-scale agile product development.

-Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and document technical processes.
-Leadership : Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor junior team members and manage subcontractors even if they don’t report to you.
-Commercial Acumen : Some understanding of commercial aspects related to telecommunication, including vendor and operator selection.
