Description
Chief Deposit Officer Department: Insurance & Financial Services Employment Type: Full Time Location: Maryland Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 / year Description Serving the Baltimore community for over 100 years, this institution stands as a pillar of financial stability with a century-long track record of success. Operating as a highly specialized, intimate team, the bank prides itself on being a "Small Institution with a Big Impact." With a staff of approximately five dedicated professionals, the culture is agile, family-oriented, and defined by a "wear many hats" philosophy. Unlike many local competitors, the bank is committed to remaining independent and will not merge, offering long-term career security. This is an ideal environment for a professional who seeks autonomy, high visibility, and a workplace free from corporate micromanagement. We are seeking a high-impact, pioneering leader to serve as the Chief Deposit & Marketing Officer (also referred to as Chief Growth Officer). This is a newly created department and position designed for a "hunter" who wants to architect a growth strategy from the ground up. You will initially operate as a senior individual contributor, focusing on aggressive business development. As you achieve growth milestones, you will have the direct authority to scale the department and build a team under your leadership. Key Responsibilities Drive Deposit Growth (#1 Priority): Lead "boots-on-the-ground" business development efforts to secure new commercial and retail deposits within the Baltimore market. Strategic Marketing: Oversee and execute all marketing initiatives to increase brand visibility and support deposit acquisition. Relationship Management: Transition existing professional networks to the bank and establish new, lasting B2B partnerships. Department Leadership: Scale the department over time, recruiting and managing direct reports as growth targets are met. Agile Execution: Act as both the high-level strategist and the primary executor of the bank’s expansion plans. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Proven Growth Record: Extensive experience in managing and growing deposits through aggressive B2B sales and relationship banking. "Hunter" Mentality: You must be energized by outside sales and possess a proven ability to generate measurable results quickly. Small-Scale Fluency: Must be comfortable and thrive in an intimate setting where collaboration and personal accountability are essential. Local Network: A strong, transferable "book of business" or professional network within the Baltimore business community is highly preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Benefits Base Salary: $90,000 – $140,000 (Flexibility up to $150,000 for exceptional candidates). Bonus Structure: Robust performance-based incentives tied directly to deposit growth and mix. 100% Employer-Paid Benefits: Health, Life, and Short-Term Disability insurance are 100% paid by the employer. Retirement: 401(k) with company matching. Perks: Fully paid parking located immediately adjacent to the building. Flexibility: A "Field/Local Remote" structure—we prioritize market results over a standard 9-to-5 desk presence.
Responsibilities
The primary focus is driving aggressive deposit growth through leading "boots-on-the-ground" business development efforts targeting commercial and retail deposits in the Baltimore market. This role also involves overseeing strategic marketing initiatives and eventually scaling the department by recruiting and managing direct reports.
