POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the overall maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel. This includes ensuring all systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, etc.) are operating efficiently, safely, and in accordance with UAE regulations. The role involves leading a team of technicians, managing preventive maintenance schedules, and supporting hotel operations to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hotel systems (BMS, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Familiarity with UAE safety and building codes.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations efficiently.
  • Proficient in MS Office and maintenance management software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in pre-opening or major renovation projects.
  • Certified in fire and safety systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainability programs and energy-saving technologies.
  • UAE driving license is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the engineering department, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation of team members.
  • Plan and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
  • Supervise capital improvement projects, renovations, and repair works.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, equipment manuals, and service records.
  • Coordinate with all departments to resolve technical issues impacting operations.
  • Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget and control operating costs.
  • Ensure timely inspections and maintenance of fire safety systems, lifts, chillers, boilers, and generators.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and ensure minimum disruption to guest services.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance work or sourcing equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment for guests and staff.
