JOB DESCRIPTION

Americas Gold & Silver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Mining Engineer to lead our technical team at the Galena Complex in Wallace, Idaho. This pivotal role involves providing technical support to mine operations and guiding a team of engineers, surveyors, and technicians. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a safe, collaborative, and innovative environment that integrates the engineering group with the operations team to drive success.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Degree in Mine Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Required: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in underground narrow vein mining, with at least six (6) years in a technical or operational leadership role.
  • Preferred: Extensive experience with long-hole open stope mining and cut-and-fill mining methods.
  • Solid understanding and application of MSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in mine engineering systems, cost management, and productivity enhancement.
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite and mine planning software such as Deswik, Datamine, or Vulcan.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for a safe, productive, and collaborative mine technical team.
  • Actively support Health & Safety Management and Environmental systems, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Coach and mentor the Engineering Department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish and execute short and long-range plans that support the optimal growth of the operation.
  • Develop and execute strategic workforce planning and organizational development within the technical team.
  • Foster cooperation, collaboration, and innovation to ensure realistic technical goals are set and achieved, maximizing resource value.
  • Collaborate with geologists to expand mineral resources.
  • Lead site mine technical team to ensure maximum support to mine operations and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee mine ventilation, rock mechanics, mine planning and survey, backfill planning, and the maintenance and development of surface facilities.
  • Perform underground excavation quality control, dilution control, and reconcile mine design to mill metal.
  • Develop and communicate site goals and initiatives in cooperation with other site managers.
