Description Under New Management | Opening Leadership Opportunity Avion Hospitality is excited to welcome a hands-on, solutions-driven Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance operations at Hyatt Place Nashville/Brentwood. As we transition this hotel under new management, this role is critical to setting operational standards, protecting the asset, and ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and guest-ready environment. This is a leadership position ideal for an experienced hotel engineer who takes pride in preventative maintenance, team development, and operational excellence. Job Summary The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, service, and repair of all hotel equipment, guestrooms, and public spaces. This role supports Avion Hospitality’s goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, safety, and profitability. The Chief Engineer oversees the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program, manages the engineering team, coordinates inspections, and ensures compliance with all safety, health, and brand standards. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, train, schedule, and supervise the Engineering team. Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline team members in accordance with Avion Hospitality standards. Conduct 90-day and annual performance evaluations. Interview and hire engineering staff following Avion Hospitality procedures. Review and submit payroll hours accurately and on time Participate in weekly staff meetings and provide department training on a rotating basis. Maintenance & Operations Oversee all maintenance and repair of guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Ensure timely response to guestroom maintenance requests. Implement and manage the Preventative Maintenance program in accordance with Avion Hospitality standards. Evaluate and spot-check work performed by staff, contractors, and outside vendors. Maintain operational manuals, equipment documentation, and warranty files. Conduct daily property and exterior perimeter inspections, including lighting, irrigation, and debris removal. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Coordinate inspections of fire safety systems, extinguishers, alarms, and life-safety equipment Serve as emergency contact and respond immediately to alarms or emergency situations. Maintain up-to-date MSDS sheets and ensure staff is trained in emergency response procedures. Chair the Safety Committee and coordinate fire drills and safety training. Ensure pool and spa compliance with local and state health codes. Maintain and oversee the key control system. Ensure proper radio usage and etiquette within the department. Financial & Asset Management Manage engineering expenses within budgeted or re-forecasted allocations. Control inventory and ensure essential supplies are adequately stocked. Support energy conservation initiatives and manage utility expenses. Participate in required Manager on Duty (MOD) coverage. Cross-Departmental Support Provide ongoing basic maintenance training for departments such as Housekeeping, Front Desk, and Kitchen. Maintain strong communication and collaboration with hotel leadership and department heads. Attend monthly all-employee meetings and required management functions. Additional Duties Handle Lost & Found items according to company standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
