Chief Engineer  Position Description The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team are seeking to recruit a Chief Engineer for the region. The primary purpose of this position is to define the overall direction of the maintenance and engineering strategy in the region. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets and with our teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner towards achieving targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.   Responsibilities Strategic Leadership * Facilitate development or site maintenance improvement plans. * Align Corporate, Regional and Site Maintenance improvement strategy. * Lead cultural change within regional maintenance.   Technical Support * Provide a mechanism for an audit process for maintenance on regional sites. * Carry out performance reviews and evaluations and provide feedback to sites and Barrick leadership. * Monitor site progress and provide coaching as required. * Establish a collaborative approach to maintenance support with alignment between Global, Regional and Site inputs.   Maintenance Improvement * Establish, review and measure maintenance performance within the region. * Establish risk mitigation and value add initiatives for the region. * Lead maintenance aspects of Regional ORTs. * Prioritise and coordinate all regional maintenance improvement initiatives.Ensure asset integrity across the region through reliability-centered maintenance and root cause failure analysis. * Lead establishment of BI projects for maintenance and coordinate technical input and initiate appropriate responses to turn maintenance systems from corrective to preventive modes.   Capital Projects and Contracts * Review AFEs for capital projects. * Monitor progress as required. * Participate in review of Project Pipeline and influence equipment design and implementation. Maintenance Processes and Systems  * Establish and maintain regional technical procedures and policies that govern how we manage maintenance.  * Act as the Business Process Owner for Maintenance and guide compliance. * Continuously monitor performance against industry standards and research new processes and systems to optimize cost-efficiency.   Professional Development * Maintain a high standard of knowledge in all minesite related engineering procedures. * Responsible for overall health of discipline, lead, mentor and develop technical staff as appropriate. * Implement training programs and set clear accountabilities to foster a culture of continuous improvement      Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.   * Membership of an appropriate Professional Institution / Professional Registration.   Experience and Requirements * Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry with at least 5 years in management positions.   * Relevant experience in mine site and similar industrial operations. * Significant depth of experience within the maintenance function, either within the mining industry or other larger industry sectors, including manufacturing.  * Good communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.   * Computer skills in Word, Excel & database management. * Experience in CMMS maintenance systems – SAP. * Knowledge of mine safety procedures.   What We Can Offer You * A comprehensive compensation package including bonuses and site-specific benefits * The ability to make a difference and lasting impact * Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team * Opportunities to grow and learn with the industry colleagues are endless * Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization   We are committed to a safe work environment sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.   Thank you for your application, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.   Our mission is to be the world’s most valued gold and copper mining business.
