Chief Engineer
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the entire engineering operations of the hotel’s systems, plant and equipment. The management of the department’s team members and ensuring budget is utilised efficiently and effectively ensures the hotel is able to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Key responsibilities also include ensuring Australian building compliance requirements are met, acting as Chief Fire Warden, championing hotel environmental and sustainability initiatives, ensuring Hilton Brand Standards are adhered to, and maintaining the hotel’s assets.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, safety protocols and work schedules
  • Implementing and maintaining our preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order. This includes guest rooms, public areas, BOH spaces and the overall façade of the building
  • Monitor and coordinate the services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all contracts and service agreements
  • Collaborating with departments like Housekeeping and Front Office to ensure seamless operations, while ensuring timely responses to service requests from guests, team members, and management.
  • Plan, implement and administer an effective preventive maintenance program in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and government legislation
  • Plan, implement and administer and energy management program by analysing and modifying operation and plant and equipment to conserve energy & introduce sustainable systems and equipment
  • Ensuring the hotel complies with all local codes and regulations related to safety and environmental standards.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections of building and facilities to ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety, Fire or any other pertinent legislation and take necessary action to maintain compliance
  • Managing the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving measures
  • Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project, and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed cost effectively
  • Being prepared to respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures or natural disasters
  • A focus on sustainability with a proactive strategy to reduce the hotels impact on the environment and increase the hotels support to the community
