The LMA Portfolio Chief Engineer is accountable for Engineering & Technology (E&T) program performance for all programs, activities and captures undertaken within the assigned Lines of Business (LoB’s). The LMA Portfolio Chief Engineer will be the E&T prime point of contact for all key stakeholders including the associated LMC Chief Engineer and Customer representatives. Success in this position will require an ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders, with a focus on delivering program outcomes.

Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

The LMA Portfolio Chief Engineer’s primarily responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinates with project EPMs to ensure prompt and accurate resource requirements such as people/skills, tools, and infrastructure to Centre of Excellence Leads/Functional Managers together with program Centre of Excellence discipline leads.
  • Works with first and second-line functional leaders to identify program team staffing needs and resolve shortfalls
  • Provides Engineering and technology teams recognition and stakeholder performance feedback.
  • Supports mentoring and career development of Portfolio EPMs
  • Proactively communicates with all constituents
  • Accountable for overall E&T technical, cost, and schedule performance on RSS Portfolio programs and activities.
  • Member of Program Integrated Team and primary E&T interface with Program Office/Customer for all programmatic items that occur within the Portfolio.
  • Ensures E&T functional stakeholder engagement in Portfolio oversight and cost estimating review/approvals.
  • Monitors program performance including earned value management and technical progress measures.
  • Ensures technical and programmatic risks and dependencies are identified, managed and appropriately elevated by program EPMs
  • Ensures technical integrity of program products through the establishment and management of project governance needs
  • Ensures requirements baseline is documented, tracked, maintained, and verified.
  • Ensures establishment and tracking of key Technical Performance Measures (TPM).
  • Tracks maturity of technical baseline and management of technical debt.
  • Ensures adherence to adequate and appropriately adapted Engineering and Technology processes

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in assigned market segment activities.
  • Significant experience in System of Systems integration programs
  • Significant Engineering Management experience within a Defence engineering and regulatory framework
  • Significant experience in the management of Technical Risk
  • Experience in resource planning and competency management
  • Experience in Control Account Management
  • Current holder of Engineering Chartership credentials, or comparable professional experienc
