Description The newly opening, dual branded property Courtyard and Residence Inn Las Colinas is hiring for a Chief Engineer. This is a great opportunity to join the opening team to transition the hotel from construction to guest-ready! The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all equipment in the?hotel is working properly and up to the hotel’s operating standards. They provide supervision and training to Maintenance Engineers. They are responsible for ensuring the department is managed within the budget, brand standards are met, and appropriate documentation on preventative maintenance and training of staff is maintained. Ensures compliance of all federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines. Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms and public areas. Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance calls that arise either from the guest or other departments. Respond courteously and promptly to guest requests and resolve matters to the guest’s satisfaction. Ability to prioritize the maintenance issues e.g.: to attend the breakdown of plant and machinery on priority. Perform maintenance activities in the guest rooms and public areas including minor electrical equipment, plumbing and Air conditioning. Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties. Monitor fire alarm / life safety system systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle?emergencies?involving the systems. Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems. Be able to test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on systems. Communicate with different departments and provide them with information and assistance. Check for and assign new maintenance requests, inspect work when complete and release room back to service using hotel PMS or other software. Able to maintain a daily logbook of work done during the shift. Execute the preventative maintenance schedule and ensure all equipment and designated areas are maintained to the required standard. Ensure staffing levels are appropriately maintained by interviewing and hiring; providing training to new hires, performance coaching and conduct annual performance reviews. Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition. Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing knowledge and skills. Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the exterior of the facility to ensure it is inviting and welcoming to guests. Adhere to all property safety protocols and OSHA Safety Standards. Maintain professionalism with coworkers and residents while working in and around the community.? Other duties may be assigned by management Requirements Requirements: Experience in general trades such as light plumbing, minor electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs. Ability to work a varied schedule as necessary to address any property emergencies Certified Pool Operator certification Basic computing and MS office knowledge to complete workorders and maintain expense reporting and maintenance logs. Written and verbal skills needed to complete job responsibilities 2-5 years' experience in a hotel, multi-unit residential or commercial building environment. Valid drivers’ license and clear driving record. Physical Requirements: Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing, walking; occasional kneeling, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders. Some locations may require the ability to work in inclement weather conditions. e.g. clearing snow & ice or working outdoors in extreme heat. Must tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
