As part of the Engineering Leadership Team, the Chief Engineer leads a platform of vehicle restorations with responsibility to deliver programmes and projects. This is a business-critical role, and within the established framework is expected to honor vehicle design, meet market requirements, and work with other engineering system leaders to innovate and integrate technological advancements in our products and services to support the ongoing product lifecycle restoration plan.
The Chief Engineer works in very close coordination with the matrixed engineering functions to deliver platform and program attributes at budget and on time, and collaboratively engages with Design Studio, Global Supply, Operations, and Finance in the approach to optimizing service and performance, minimizing working capital, and maximizing engineering efficiency.

Essential Functions
- Engineering and Product Development
- Lead new product development programmes within a platform of vehicles to effectively ensure on-time vehicle delivery meeting safety, quality and cost targets.
- Be the technical authority and ensure delivery of all engineering attributes within the vehicle platform
- Work directly with the platform Programme Manager to ensure engineering costs and timing plans are defined at conception and controlled to target , throughout the programs
- Within a matrix organization, own the strategy that develops technologically advanced processes into a vehicle platform integration
- Participate in the development of engineering best practices, as well as the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies to align with product needs in a consistent fashion across platforms and programs
- Drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the global engineering team as part of the Engineering leadership team for application at platform and program level
- Provide guidance and direction on technology investments to support and address emerging market and vehicle requirements.
- Support development of methodologies and processes which drive business excellence
- Organisation and Delivery
- Make decisions regarding internal engineering organization structure and utilization of outside engineering resources where needed for non-core competencies.
- Hire, develop, and retain top technical talent and engineering leadership fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to nurture the growth and expertise of the Engineering team.
- Nurtures high performing engineering culture through being a role model exhibiting excellent leadership, customer and people focused behaviors
- Supports Programme and operations across all the global facilities within the organization
- Foundational
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Foster and maintain a safety culture in compliance with company policies and practices.
- Support customer-facing meetings, briefs, demos, and exercises where applicable
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or relevant experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in automotive engineering design, innovation, and delivery
- Ability to travel between US and UK to support global team, product launches, and ongoing restoration requirements.

- First rate stakeholder engagement skills, a team player, able to work well as part of a multifunctional, multiskilled operating company leadership team, contributing to overall business performance improvement outside of the pure engineering stream
