Description

SALARY

£92,700 per annum
Chief Engineer – operational area - east London
Stagecoach London employs over 5,000 colleagues and operates over 1,500 vehicles from our bus garages in east and south east London. Not only are we a highly successful business, we’re also an integral part of the communities we serve, connecting people through the operation of multi-million miles of routes every year across London.
Since 1980, Stagecoach Group has played a key role in the delivery of high standard transport operations with an industry leading, customer-centric focus. Here at Stagecoach London, we are passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to our customers, no matter how long or short that journey may be.
Are you looking to take your career up a gear? If so, we may have the opportunity just for you – reporting to the Engineering Director you will be one of three Chief Engineers at the heart of delivering these services.
A summary:
You’ll advocate for the highest engineering standards possible, while acting as a key stakeholder in the day-to-day operational management of multiple engineering leaders across our business. You’ll be passionate in ensuring our practice is robust, “future proof” and astutely developed in-line with industry developments.
It goes without saying that you’ll need to ensure that engineering is managed efficiently, and whilst that will give you plenty to keep you in the office, though most of the time - you’ll be out and about in the depots. A visible presence is crucial – and it will give you an acute understanding of our journey as a department, and as a wider-business. Leading on our strategic priorities and showcasing our company values will be a daily priority for you.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • You’ll be a well-established, senior Engineering leader with an excellent technical knowledge. Ideally you’ll have PCV experience (though not essential), as we can teach you the bus part if you’re in fleet management in an alternative field.
  • You’ll be able to evidence your ability to build high performing teams, and provide trusted, inclusive and collaborative leadership, as well as experience in personal development and performance improvement at a senior level
  • A commercial awareness relating to HSQE, IOSH, VOSA and ideally – an understanding of TfL/DfT policy and requirements
  • Proven track record in multisite engineering management
  • An ability to work within our Company values
