As a Mechanical Chief Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting our team to deliver accurate and competitive bids. You’ll lead a team in all aspects of the estimating process, analyzing drawings and specifications, preparing quantity takeoffs, issuing RFQs, coordinating with vendors, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective estimating strategies, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across a variety of construction projects.

YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS, TECHNICAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical chief estimating or a combined estimating/project management role.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring estimating teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience with civil infrastructure or large-scale residential/commercial construction projects.
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • The following are considered an asset:
  • Experience working on high-rise, institutional, or complex mechanical system projects
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or other design/modeling software.
  • Red Seal Plumbing or HVAC certification.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, change order estimating, and labour/equipment costing.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and construction documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Revit, or AutoCAD considered an asset.
