Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the strategic leadership of all financial aspects of AltaOne Federal Credit Union. This includes overseeing financial management and analysis, strategic planning, risk management, accounting oversight, audit management, and compliance. The CFO will direct the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and profitability analyses while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory standards. This position plays a critical advisory role to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, supporting long-term financial sustainability and operational excellence.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Employee must effectively carry out the following essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates AltaOne Federal Credit Union’s mission, values and culture. Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement the organization’s overall financial strategy and annual operating plan.
 - Analyze current financial performance and forecast future growth opportunities.
 - Provide strategic insight into branch and product profitability, recommending actions to maximize return.
 - Communicate financial results and strategy to the CEO, Leadership team, and stakeholders.
 
Financial Operations
- Direct the preparation of all financial reporting: balance sheets, income statements, shareholder and regulatory reports.
 - Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
 - Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process; monitor actual performance versus budget.
 - Review financial planning processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
 
Risk & Asset Management
- Oversee asset/liability management and monitor interest rate, credit, and portfolio risks.
 - Update and enforce ALM policy in accordance with NCUA regulations.
 - Manage insurance and risk programs to ensure adequate coverage of credit union assets.
 - Evaluate and mitigate operational and strategic financial risks. Compliance & Reporting
 - Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC.
 - Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies.
 - Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, accounting standards, and legal regulations.
 
Leadership & Team Development
- Direct and mentor the Finance and Accounting departments.
 - Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with AltaOne’s mission and values.
 - Work with Human Resources to develop leadership capabilities within the finance team through coaching, training, and succession planning. External Relations
 - Oversee or serve as the primary liaison to external auditors, regulators, investment bankers, supervisory committee, and other financial institutions.
 - Represent the Credit Union in financial matters with rating agencies and industry peers.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee Audit, Compliance, Accounting and Finance teams, coaching, and performance evaluations.
 - Collaborate with department leaders to monitor budgets, resource use, and alignment with strategic goals.
 - Lead regular meetings to align cross-functional goals and financial planning efforts. Leadership Expectations

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required. Master’s strongly preferred.
 - Minimum of 8–10 years of senior-level financial leadership, preferably in a credit union or banking environment. ADA Requirements
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
