POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for the financial strategy, management, and performance of the Sydney-based office of a French luxury expedition cruise line. The Sydney office operates as a regional hub for the APAC market (excluding China) and is tasked with selling cruises on behalf of the global Head Office. The CFO will oversee all financial operations in the region, ensuring alignment with global financial goals. This position also manages a team of three employees within the finance/HR department, ensuring their development and alignment with business objectives. The role will involve close collaboration with senior leadership in the Sydney office, the global finance team, and key external stakeholders, including a strong relationship with head office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • MBA or CPA/CA qualification is highly preferred.

· Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the luxury travel, hospitality, or cruise industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial management in the APAC region, including knowledge of local regulations and market dynamics.
  • Experience in managing JVs and international financial operations is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.

· Skills:

  • Excellent financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, with a focus on ethical financial management and compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP and accounting platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • French/English speaking mandatory
Responsibilities

· Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the financial strategy for the APAC region in alignment with the global goals of the Head Office.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to ensure the financial health of the Sydney office.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and business growth.

· Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial reports, statements, and forecasts to the global Head Office.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial policies.

· Cash Flow and Risk Management:

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, to optimize financial performance and minimize risk.

· Sales and Revenue Management:

  • Support the Sydney office in achieving sales targets by providing financial insights and pricing strategies.
  • Monitor revenue streams and profitability, ensuring alignment with global pricing strategies and market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to optimize promotional offers and sales initiatives.

· Human Resources and Talent Management:

  • Collaborate with HR to develop and implement talent acquisition, retention, and development strategies that support the financial goals of the Sydney office.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits planning to ensure alignment with regional market standards and corporate policies.
  • Support performance management processes, including setting objectives, conducting evaluations, and implementing development plans for finance team members.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act and regulations, working closely with HR to address any workforce-related issues.

· Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team in the Sydney office, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to ensure financial objectives are met and aligned with business goals.
  • Represent the finance function in senior leadership meetings and act as a key advisor to the General Manager.

· Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, JV partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure transparent communication with the global Head Office regarding financial performance and regional market developments.
