Description

About the opportunity

This 5-year Senior Executive Service appointment offers the opportunity to lead the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s financial strategy and services to deliver meaningful outcomes to the state of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the CFO provides high-level strategic and technical advice to the Director General, Corporate Executive, senior management and key stakeholders. You will lead and influence financial decision-making, effective resource allocation and drive strong financial governance and performance across the Department and associated entities, in accordance with the Financial Management Act 2006. As a member of DPIRD’s Corporate Executive, you will contribute to the department’s strategic direction, organisational priorities and overall performance, bringing sound judgement, strategic insight and a collaborative approach to achieving organisational outcomes.

You will provide strong, inclusive and authentic leadership to a team of finance and procurement professionals and contribute as a valued colleague across the senior leadership cohort. You will undertake the role and responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the department and provide CFO services to nine Regional Development Commissions, the Agricultural Produce Commission and the Rural Business Development Corporation.

DPIRD is a hazard management agency, and so on occasion, all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.

The position is currently available for immediate filling, with the potential that this process may also be used to fill other same or similar fixed term or permanent vacancies that arise in DPIRD (within the locations listed in this advert) over the next 12 months.
